Tamil Gift Package

I am a huge fan of M.I.A., her music and her politics. This Tavis Smiley apperance influnced me in designing a package dedicated to the Tamil people. This package contains the Gita, Shiva and Chiyo Body Bars. Everytime you tell someone about our soap you can also tell them about this horrible genocide that is taking place. Knowledge is key.

Tlingit Gift Package

When I was visiting Alaska I got to me a lot of really wonder natives from the Tlingit tribe. Alaska is one of the only places in America where natives seem respected by both the government, the local and the tourists. I decided today to name one of my gift packages after this tribe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tlingitou Here you can find out more interesting facts about this tribe. http://hamsasoaps.etsy.com/Here you can find out more about the new Tlingit Gift package.

Hamsa Sighting

AFP photo shows Lebanese farmer Fendi al-Halabi standing next to his tree in Beirut. Halabi brought his 85-year-old olive tree from the southern Lebanese village of Hasbaya to be displayed in public because it resembles the palm of a hand, which he considers to be miraculous.

WolfBait & Youngblood

We are so excited to announce that we will be carried at WolfBait & B-Girls in Chicago, as well as Youngblood Gallery and Boutique in Atlanta, GA.

Memoirs of a Geisha

I loved this movie so much I read the book. And then I looved the book so much I watched the movie again, and again and again. I am very fascinated with geishas and sometimes wish I could hire one to entertain my husband.

I decided to make a body bar named after the Memoirs of a Geisha charater Chiyo, because its just the sweetest name ever. I used rose oil and vitamin C enriched paprika to preserve the skin of any modern geisha.

Welcome To The Hamsa Soaps Blog!

Handmade soaps have always been a passion of mine. Growing up my mother and I would collect the finest handmade soaps from our travels. When I got back home I loved the feeling of nostalgia as I used my new delicious soap, handmade with loving hands, free of anmial fats and tallows. I have always loved knowing that all natural products are being used on my skin.

My husband encouraged me to indulge my long time dream of soapmaking. So I began researching the processes, selcting my ingredients and experimenting with essential oil. I am vegetarian and have been since 1990 so obviously I wanted my soaps to be to. I don´t use any animal tallows or testing. I also decided to not use any unnatural frangrances or colorants.

Due to my own Hindu background I have always loved the hamsa symbol. Our family is very diverse with ancestors from Egypt, India, France, Colombia, Spain and Cuba. I have always been very proud to be multicultural and very thankful to know my background. While exploring different essentials I decided wanted to create a product that people will be able to relate to culturally. All the names of my body bars are culturally influenced.

I created this blog to document my processes and influences. Please feel free to ask me anything. Your comments are very appreciated.
